ViewSonic ViewPad 10 Now Available
0This week all the talks in the tablet world revolve around iPad 2 and its top competitor Xoom. iPad 2 will officially start shipping on March 11th. But shoppers do have some alternatives when it comes to getting a new tablet. ViewSonic ViewPad 10, which has just been released to the market, is a dual boot Windows 7 / Android tablet that provides its users with a more PC like experience.
ViewSonic ViewPad 10 has a 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N455 processor inside and a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel capacitive touchscreen display. Android 1.6 (installed on this machine) may not be the latest version of this OS but it is better than nothing. The device is available for as low as $599 online.
Unfortunately, ViewPad 10 will struggle to compete effectively against Xoom and iPad. The device costs more than iPad 2 and has major short-comings. We have not gauged its battery life but it is hard to imagine this device beating Apple iPad in that area. If you are planning to buy a tablet for reading e-books, you are probably better off investing in Kindle DX than this device.
