Samsung Galaxy Gear Watch Puts Pressure on Apple
0Apple was expected to dazzle its fans with the iWatch. The company has not released the device yet. In fact, most rumors suggest we will have to wait till 2014 to try the device. Samsung’s Galaxy Gear Watch is already coming though. Samsung’s smartwatch has a 800MHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, and 4 GB of internal storage. It has a 1.63 inch AMOLED touchscreen, a 1.9 MP camera, and a speaker. The battery life won’t be too long but should be good enough for 24 hours on a full charge.
Here are the announced Samsung Galaxy Gear specifications:
- 800 MHz processor
- 1.63 inch Super AMOLED (320 x 320)
- 4 GB Internal memory + 512 MB (RAM)
- Apps such as Pocket, Path, RunKeeper, Tripit, …
- Safety assistance for emergencies
- Bluetooth 4.0
- Accelerometer, Gyroscope
- Li-ion 315mAh Battery
The Galaxy Gear can send and receive calls, texts, and notifications from Samsung smartphones via Bluetooth. Not all devices are compatible at this time. The watch costs $299, shipping on September 25th. Since this is the first generation device, it will not be perfect. Will this push Apple to release its own watch sooner? Probably, depending on how successful this watch is.
