NOOK Subscribers Get NY Times Access
0A short while ago, Amazon announced that the New York Times subscribers on Kindle would get free access to NYTimes.com. Many wondered whether this deal would be offered to NOOK owners too. B&N has answered our question already:
We are excited to expand our long-standing relationship with The New York Times to provide NOOK customers with online access to even more great content any time … Our customers already enjoy access to one of the leading NOOK Newspapers on their favorite NOOK device, and we believe they’ll appreciate the easy access to all of the wonderful online content available at NYTimes.com at no extra cost,
said Jonathan Shar, Vice President and General Manager of digital newsstand at Barnes & Noble. Like or hate it, the New York Times is still a popular newspaper. You won’t have to pay for it twice if you have got a Kindle or NOOK subscription to it. NOOK customers will be soon notified via e-mail about how they can access NYTimes.com free of charge.
This move shows that B&N is quite serious about keeping up with Amazon in this business. It would be even better if one of these companies introduced e-book subscription plans.
