New Kindles Announced + Press Conference Video
0The wait for the new Kindles is finally over. Amazon finally unveiled a bunch of new products yesterday (see video below). The company not only refreshed its e-book reader lines, it also added a bunch of new exciting tablets. For starters, e-book lovers will be able to get their hands on the Kindle 5 for only $69. It is a slight upgrade from the last year’s version but just as compact.
As expected, Amazon announced the Kindle Paperwhite with a self-illuminating display. It will replace the current Kindle Touch model. The device will be available for $119 ($179 for 3G). The Kindle Paperwhite will be released on October 1st. Kindle Fire fans have a lot to be excited about as well. Amazon is now offering its baseline tablet for $159. It has a faster processor and a longer battery life.
Kindle Fire HD products have excited many experts in the tablet business. These will come in 7 and 8.9 each versions. The 7 inch version will have a 1,280×800-pixel display, front-facing camera, and dual-band MIMO Wi-Fi. The Kindle Fire HD with 8.9 inch screen has a higher resolution screen (1,920×1,200 pixels). There is also a LTE version of Kindle Fire HD available but that will cost you $499 (the data plan will be $50 a year for 250 MB of data a month).
Amazon has outdone itself with these new e-readers and tablets. The Kindle Fire HD line has what it takes to go head to head with Apple iPads. The prices are competitive as well. We will have to wait and see how Apple and Google will respond to the new products Amazon has announced.
