Microsoft Buying NOOK for $1B?
0Microsoft’s investment in NOOK may be heading to a whole new level. The company did invest $300 million into the business in 2012. But it may now be ready to buy NOOK’s digital assets. Microsoft is after movies, e-books, and other content it can get its hand on. Let’s not forget that Nook is an Android-based platform. So the move could have major ramifications for everyone involved.
Many experts believe that Nook tablets may be on their way out, especially since beating the Nexus 7, Kindle Fire HD, and other top Android tablets is a very tough task for B&N. Let’s make no mistake about it. Microsoft needs the digital assets to strengthen Windows 8’s offerings. The Nook division has not been very successful lately, so this move might not turn out great for Microsoft.
