Kobo Reader Comes to Android

Kobo eReader may not be the best e-book reader around, but it has made a lot of players in the e-reader market nervous. The device is priced low and offers almost everything one would need to read books (without the unnecessary bells and whistles). Just like Amazon Kindle and Nook, Kobo has gotten its own apps for mobile devices. Kobo apps for iPhone, Android, and Blackberry let Kobo e-Reader owners to purchase, bookmark, and read their books on the go.

Things are not going to be as easy for Kobo readers as they seemed to be just a few days ago. With Kindle getting a major price drop and nook lite shipping soon, Kobo is going to find it more difficult to take market share away from the top players in the e-reader business. That’s unless Kobo gets discounted too.

The e-reader market has suddenly gotten more excited in the past few weeks. One could attribute that to the rise of Apple iPad. It does seem as though more companies are realizing the e-reader market’s potential. Things will be a whole lot more interesting when nook 2 and Kindle 3 make their debut later this year.
