Kno Secures Funding for Student Tablet

Remember Kno e-book Reader? It was a fancy tablet that we first heard about a few months ago. Unlike most e-reader and tablet makers, the people behind Kno know exactly who they are going after with their device — college students. We have seen many fancy e-reader prototypes that have never made it to the public (mostly due to financial issues). It seems Kno will get its chance as it has secured a $46M in equity and debt financing.

Kno’s dual screen tablet is flashy and does seem to have the potential to be a very powerful tool for students. Kno Reader will have two 14.1 inch screens and will take advantage of a Tegra 2 chip. It is not clear how it will perform against Apple iPad and other tablets that will be making their way to the market in the near future. The price will be a very important factor though (under $1000 is not too specific).

Let’s hope Kno pulls it off and gets to release its product to the market (something Plastic Logic has failed to do so far).
