Kno Digital Textbook Tablet: Large & Dual-Screen
0Apple iPad may be the top tablet these days but it is by no means the only option in town. Plenty of other companies are innovating and looking for ways to challenge the iPad. Kno Digital Textbook Tablet may not be going after iPad per se. But, Kno has a very interesting device on its hands. Kno tablet targets students and gives them a device fully capable of handling their textbooks. We all know how some students hated Kindle DX in a couple of trials that Amazon ran in cooperation with universities around the U.S. Kno aims to change that by offering a touch-screen tablet that can almost replace laptops for people.
Kno tablet has dual 14 inch screens and supports Flash (unlike iPad). The company promises 8 hours of battery per charge for this device (let’s hope it gets something close to that). This tablet is fully capable of displaying college text-books in color. The larger screens should help make this a more attractive option to students than other e-readers around (video after the break).
The price is going to be the issue with Kno tablet. Considering that Apple iPad and Amazon Kindle DX can be purchased for around $500 each, Kno needs to be aggressive with its pricing strategy.
Will the device be an iPad or Kindle killer? I doubt it. But the concept is very interesting. Improve the battery and add lots of apps and more people will pick this up.
