Kindle-Only E-books Downloads Reach 100 Million
0It is no secret that Kindle books get a lot of action on Amazon. The company is not only selling a ton of e-books but it has managed to get people to download e-books a whole lot more through its Kindle Lending Library service for Prime users. In fact, Kindle-exclusive books have been purchased, downloaded, and borrowed more than 100 million times.
According to Amazon, close to 180k titles are now available for Kindle owners. Many of them can be borrowed for free as long as you have a Prime Membership (which goes for $79 a year).
We have a huge library of books that are only available on Kindle, and they’re super popular. Exclusive books are another great benefit for Kindle readers, and we’re going to continue to work hard to make sure the Kindle ecosystem is the best in the world for our customers
explained Russ Grandinetti, Vice President of Kindle Content. The Kindle platform has made many independent authors a ton of money. Some books have downloaded over 500k times. Authors can always choose to make their books available on Amazon Kindle exclusively by using the KDP Select program. KDP Select books earned 77% more royalties from paid sales than in their 3 months prior to joining the program. Of course, many of us are not a fan of exclusive book deals. But Amazon is doing a great job pushing authors to take the bait. This just goes on to show that independent authors can’t afford to ignore the Kindle platform.
