Kindle Library Lending Feature Coming Soon?
0Amazon has promised to offer Kindle owners e-book library lending by the end of the year. We have not heard anything from the officials about the feature. But Amazon seems to be already testing it in the Seattle area. Amazon and OverDrive have rolled this service out in quiet for now but people are already sharing their experiences on Amazon’s forums. Jeffrey D. Day had this to say about his experience:
Live in Seattle area. Just downloaded a book to my Kindles by checking it out from the King County Library System. Most Overdrive titles had a Kindle option. Licenses were listed for both the Kindle and ePub formats. After checkout, the download button redirected me to Amazon, where I downloaded it. Very easy.
Amazon already has instructions on how to borrow e-books from public libraries:
Some users have reported problems with this service. Considering that its currently in beta, problems are to be expected. Amazon is a bit late in the game with this feature. Other e-book readers have been offering this feature for some time now. Just like regular books, e-reader owners should expect to wait in line for those highly popular titles.
Have you had a chance to test this new feature?
