Kindle Fire 6.2 Update: Amazon Dismantles Kindle Fire Hack
0The Kindle Fire has been hacked already. While many Kindle Fire owners love the interface of their device, some are very interested in trying their own favorite flavor of Android on it. Rooting Kindle Fire tablets would let their owners install apps from the Android Market. But Amazon has just warned everyone that it won’t be easy to get around it. It has released a software update that disables the latest Kindle Fire hack by removing root access.
Amazon is delivering the update over WiFI automatically. You are going to have to jump through hoops to avoid it. We have seen multiple reports on what it is this update does. Some are suggesting that it only removes root access. Others claim the update will get rid of customizations as well. There are a few folks who claim they have not lost anything after the update. Regardless of what the update does, Kindle hackers can root their device again to get more out of it.
The good news here is Amazon has not killed future Kindle hacks. But the move does show Amazon is serious about making money from its services integrated into the Kindle Fire. Considering that Amazon sells these tablets at a loss, we can’t really blame the company too much for trying.
