Kindle Fire 2 To Have a 8.9 Inch Screen?
0Kindle Fire has not started shipping yet but we have already heard plenty of rumors on the next generation Kindle Fire. Let’s not forget that Kindle Fire was supposed to serve as a test for Amazon to see how well it can do in the tablet business. Considering that Amazon has already sold a ton of Kindle Fire units, there is a very good chance we will see Kindle Fire 2 released to the market.
Digitimes has been a bit of a hit or miss with its predictions. But it is suggesting the next generation Kindle Fire may not have a 10.1 inch screen after all. Kindle Fire 2 was expected to have a quad core processor and a larger screen in comparison to its predecessor. If Digitimes is right, Amazon may settle for a 8.9 inch display for that device:
Amazon is likely to change its product roadmap by shifting the display size of its next-generation Kindle Fire to 8.9-inch instead of 10.1-inch as originally planned, according to sources in Amazon’s supply chain… Following the launch of the 8.9-inch tablets, Amazon may also release 9.7- to 10.1-inch models in 2012, said the sources.
This rumor seems to suggest that Amazon may offer Kindle Fire in 3 sizes in the future. That will be a very interesting strategy for Amazon. We will have to wait and see how Amazon implements that in 2012.
