Kindle Book Sales Overtake Amazon Print Sales in the UK
0People are slowly but surely getting more comfortable with the idea of reading books on devices such as the Kindle. These tiny e-readers are super cheap these days and quite portable. Besides, ordering books to receive them instantly on an e-reader beats having to wait for delivery. According to Amazon, e-book sales have now overtaken print sales in the U.K. Amazon achieved this feat in the U.S. a while ago. It now sells 114 Kindle titles for every 100 printed books:
Customers in the UK are now choosing Kindle books more often than print books, even as our print business continues to grow…. We hit this milestone in the United States less than four years after introducing Kindle, so to reach this landmark after just two years in the UK is remarkable and shows how quickly UK readers are embracing Kindle
said Jorrit Van der Meulen, vice president of Kindle EU. The Kindle platform is here to stay though. Amazon is expected to bring more e-readers and tablets to the market in the near future. This is all great news for authors too.
