Is Kindle Really The Best-Seller on Amazon?
0Amazon Kindle has dominated Amazon’s best-sellers list for months now. As far as I can remember, it has not been out of top 2 places forever. The stay has been so long that I am starting to doubt the integrity of the list. A few of my colleagues have explained to me that the list is accurate as Amazon Kindle is the hottest gadget on the market. I have no doubt that Kindle is a very cool gadget to own, but the top seller? I have my doubt. Here is why:
- Amazon Kindle has been in the top 2 positions (most of it as No. 1) for too long. Even iPod touch was not at the top for that long. I don’t even remember the iPod classic dominating the list like that.
- Amazon has invested a lot of money in Kindle and it would be beneficial for them to push Kindle to the top. I am not claiming any dishonesty on their part, but you can look at numbers from different angles.
- Amazon Kindle is out of stock and won’t be shipped any time soon. I don’t see how folks would settle for a fairly expensive gadget as Kindle when they won’t be getting it in the next 13 weeks! How about buying iPod touch and getting it tomorrow?
In the end, I don’t believe Amazon is being dishonest here. Maybe Amazon is going by revenue generated or it is including the books sold on the Kindle platform with Amazon Kindle’s numbers. Can Kindle really dominate the top seller list for too long? A few weeks ago, I had no doubt. But with it being out of stock for 13 weeks, I have serious doubts.
Your take: do you trust Amazon’s top sellers list?
