iRiver Story Goes WiFi
0Remember iRiver Story? The e-book reader that was expected to challenge Kindle a while go. The device may have not gotten enough action in this side of the globe, but it has apparently done enough business to encourage iRiver to upgrade it. iRiver WiFi Story, which was announced recently in the UK, now gives its owners the ability to download e-books wirelessly. The maker’s partnership with WHSmith’s online e-book store is a big plus too.
iRiver WiFi Story can read many open source formats, but that’s one of few positives if you compare it to Amazon Kindle. The device is expected to sell for £250. That’s a lot more than what Amazon Kindle is going for (unless dollar catches up with British Pound quickly). The device would probably be more successful if it made its debut a couple of years ago.
iRiver Story will probably stick around and get some action in Europe. But it won’t be able to put up a major challenge against Kindle and the upcoming tablets. It’s too pricey and does not offer enough features to justify owning it.
