iRex To Expand Business with iRex DR800SG
0In the past few weeks, we have heard a lot about wireless e-book readers that will make their debut in the late 2009 or early 2010. We’ve got the Nook, the Que, and a host of other similar devices that are in the process of being introduced on the market. Most of these new e-book readers are taking advantage of AT&T’s wireless service. But Verizon is also joining the competition as well. iRex is one of those companies that is expecting to make a splash in the e-book market in the near future. The company does have a decent line up of e-book readers already, but it’s hoping to increase its market share by introducing a device that makes reading newspapers and magazines (with graphics) more convenient than before. That’s what iRex DR800 is all about.
The new iRex Reader not only comes with a fairly large screen, but it also supports open document formats as well. So whether you want to read PDF or Epub files on your device, iRex Reader makes it possible without you having to go through a conversion process. You can buy more content for your reader through Barnes & Noble and a few other sources as well. So the device looks solid on the paper. iRex DR800 using B&N’s content library is great new for Barnes & Noble. The company has now access to 3 top readers (in 3 different sizes) which should allow B&N to expand its e-book business. Nook, Que, and iRex Reader are each designed for a different market segments, so there is no reason they all can’t be successful. Out of the 3, Nook is the only model expected to challenge Amazon Kindle, but the other two devices let B&N reach more households and sell more e-books. One has to wonder if Amazon will ever be open to such content agreements.
