iPad Owners: Selfish, Unkind Elite?
0We did not know people judge others over devices they carry around. Apparently, some do. According to an interesting study by MyType, iPad owners are not your average Joe folks. MyType which specializes in helping people finding their personality type has determined that iPad owners are just a bunch of selfish elites who are power hungry, unkind, and wealthy. If you feel offended by this study already, take a look at this gem:
iPad Owners are an elite bunch. They’re wealthy, highly educated and sophisticated. They value power and achievement much more than others. They’re also selfish, scoring low on measures of kindness and altruism. As can be seen in the chart below, we found that people with all or most of these qualities, whom we call selfish elites, are roughly 6 times more likely to be an iPad Owner than the average person.
iPad owners are a bunch of sinners too:
We asked survey respondents to identify which of the Seven Sins they’re most susceptible to. iPad Owners are guilty of the two sins of indulgence: lust and gluttony. Is the iPad itself an indulgence? This fits with the Owner’s “selfish elite” profile.
As much as we like to give this so-called study a serious look, it’s clearly a “link-bait” and does not merit a closer look. Are there selfish and unkind people who own iPads? Absolutely. Are these people likely to pick premium products (such as those you can get from Apple)? Affirmative. But Apple has sold millions of iPads in the past couple of months. It’s tough to judge all these buyers just because they own an iPad.
This study is not too disturbing or offensive. The comments some of the visitors of MyType have left about this piece of work certainly are.
