E-Ink Again Promises Color E-Readers
0The E-ink technology is dear to the heart’s of those who love getting a book-like reading experience on their handheld devices. Kindle, NOOK, Kobo, and many other e-readers come with E-ink displays. Unfortunately, most e-readers do not use color e-ink at this point. At the IFA 2011 trade show in Berlin last week, E-ink touted its new display technology Triton yet again. It won’t outperform the iPad’s display technology but brings colors to e-readers that use it.
We have seen color E-ink used in Hanvon e-readers. E-ink promises that Triton screens will be used in soon-to-be announced e-readers. Considering that Jeff Bezos is not impressed with color e-ink just yet, it remains to be seen which company will take the first shot with Triton technology. Amazon is already developing an Android tablet with an LCD screen. Will it even bother to bring a new color screen Kindle to the market? Let’s hope so.
