B&N To Offer NOOK in the U.K

Amazon has been quite successful in taking the Kindle platform international. But B&N is now starting with the process by bringing NOOK to Britain. This is going to be the first time that NOOK products will be available in this area. The move will allow Barnes & Noble to compete with Amazon in the e-book marketplace that is growing in that side of the world.

said William J. Lynch, Chief Executive Officer at Barnes & Noble. Let’s make no mistake about it. B&N is quite late with its arrival in international markets. The company has mainly focused on building its presence in the U.S. But companies such as Amazon and Apple already have strong international presences. B&N is planning to get in partnership with leading retailers but the details are not known at this point.
The NOOK store will initially have more than 2.5 million books, magazines, and newspapers. NOOK tablet colors will not launching in Britain at this time though. It will be interesting to see how far B&N goes in this market.
