B&N: Buy a NOOK HD+ Get a Free NOOK Touch
0These are desperate times for Barnes & Noble. Let’s give the company credit for pushing Amazon in the e-reader business. NOOK e-readers and tablets were good enough to stay competitive with their Kindle counterparts. But B&N has had trouble generating interest in its latest NOOK tablets. That could explain why it is giving away a NOOK Touch with each NOOK HD+ purchase.
B&N has had a very difficult time selling new NOOK HD devices. There is a good reason for that. Customers would love to be able to do more with their tablets. Many existing ones complain about not being able to install third-party Android apps on their gadgets easily.
The deal will run till 3/31. The NOOK Simple Touch is not exactly B&N’s top e-reader either. But it does sell for $79, so this is a great steal. It remains to be seen how many folks will take the bait here. Considering the uncertain future of the NOOK business, it may not be the wisest idea to send these folks any money.
