B&N Adds Google Play To NOOK HD & NOOK HD+

B&N has finally made the smart decision of adding Google Play to NOOK HD and NOOK HD+ devices. B&N has been trying hard to generate momentum for its new tablets. But lack of access to all the apps in the Google Play Store was a big issue for those who already own one of these tablets. The latest over-the-air update for NOOKs now adds Google Play to them.
This is not available for NOOK Color and NOOK Tablet. But NOOK HD and NOOK HD+ owners will now be able to download Android apps from the Google Play and other Android stores (including the Amazon Appstore). Future NOOK HD+ units will have Google Play preloaded.
B&N should have done this much earlier. Better late than never though. Will shoppers give NOOK HD and NOOK HD+ tablets another look? That remains to be seen.
