Barnes & Noble Ends NOOK Support on Mac and Older Windows PC
0These are not exactly the best times for B&N. The company is already offering huge discounts on its tablet. Many have been wondering what the future holds for the company. We now know B&N won’t be supporting legacy Windows PCs and Macs in the future. Instead, it will focus on its Windows 8, iOS, and Android apps.
This is not a huge surprise considering that both the Mac and old Windows apps were falling behind in development. NOOK fans can still access their content on their PCs using NOOK for Web.
We are no longer supporting NOOK for PC for Windows 2000/XP/Vista. To enjoy the NOOK content on your PC please use the NOOK for Windows 8 App or NOOK for Web.
explained B&N in a statement. The NOOK business has been struggling in a while. It is very likely that the NOOK division could be sold to Microsoft. As it is, the future does not look that bright for the NOOK platform.
