Amazon opens Amazon.Fr Ebook Store
0Amazon has big plans for its e-book business. We have already witnessed the company’s aggressive pricing strategy with its upcoming e-book readers. Amazon is not just after the U.S. market though. It has opened stores in various countries around the globe to expand its reach. Amazon.fr is the latest Amazon store to offer e-books for that region of the world. Over 35k French e-books will be available through the store (in addition to English books).
Greg Greeley, vice president of Amazon European Retail, made the official statement:
French customers are passionate about books and reading, and just as we’ve seen in the US, UK and Germany, we believe they will love reading on Kindle. We are excited to bring our first French-language Kindle and our new Kindle store to millions of Amazon.fr customers
As you can see in the screenshot above, the latest generation Kindle will launch in that country on October 14th. Amazon.fr store will include 28 L’Express best sellers and 4000+ free titles. It will include titles from “The Largo Winch Series of Francq and Van Hamme, Julia and Roem from Bilal and Walking Dead. Newspapers and magazines such as Le Monde, Les Echos, Le Figaro, Libération and Aujourd’hui en France/Le Parisien are offered too. It will be interesting to see how successful Kindle will become in European countries such as France.
