Amazon Kindle To Come to the UK
0Amazon is finally following up its domestic strategy with an international one. The United Kingdom is the next market that is being targeted by Amazon. According to numerous sources, Amazon has reached an agreement with a mobile operator and is close to disclosing the release date for Kindle in the UK. Here is what Tech Radar had to say about this deal:
Amazon has agreed a outsourcing deal with Qualcomm to prepare for the launch of its Kindle e-book reader in the UK. According to the report in Mobile magazine, the company has outsourced the manufacturing to Qualcomm, including agreeing a deal with a mobile operator for downloading content to the consumer devices.
There is not much detail available on how this deal will work out and how the fees are handled. There won’t be a monthly wireless fee but we still don’t know how much Amazon will charge for direct conversions. All in all, this is a great news for Kindle fans in the UK and all around the Europe. Amazon is finally implementing its international strategy for Kindle, and that is only good news for people who are hoping e-book readers are here to stay. The fact that Sony is also coming up with a new reader is another indication that e-readers are here to stay.
