Amazon Improves Kindle App for Android
0Amazon may be hoping to sell as many Kindle e-readers as possible, but it is quite serious about its apps for other devices too. It has just improved Kindle for Android to make reading books on those devices more convenient. Kindle for Android now supports voice search and word look up. It allows Android device owners to search inside books for words and phrases. It can look up words on Dictionary.com and Wikipedia too.
Kindle for Android now provides supports for notes and highlights. Users can take notes on their Android device and sync them all across all their devices. Users can lock their screens in a certain mode to prevent their phone from changing orientation all the time.
Customers tell us they love the freedom and flexibility of our Buy Once, Read Everywhere approach because they always have their full reading library at their fingertips and never lose their place in a book—whether they are reading on a Kindle or one of their other favorite devices. We’re excited to see our customers’ positive response to the Kindle for Android app and we think that customers are going to enjoy the updates we’ve made,
said Dorothy Nicholls, Director, Amazon Kindle. Kindle for Android may have gotten an upgrade but it still has ways to go to catch up with Kindle of iPhone or even Nook reader for Android. The good news is Amazon is serious about iPhone and Android. They give Amazon a great chance to sell even more ebooks.
