Amazon: Ebooks Up 70%, Print Books Slow Down
0Amazon is not the greatest when it comes to discussing numbers with its customers. For instance, it does not tell reporters how many Kindles it has sold. But in its latest quarterly earnings report, Amazon did call attention to the fact that its physical book sales experienced the lowest December growth rate in its 17 years history. Selling paper books was Amazon’s original business. The company has come a long way since those early years.
As the company announced, e-book sales at Amazon have grown b7 70% year over year. It seems Amazon push to make its shoppers more content consumers is paying off. Kindle Fire devices are designed to make people want to consume more content. As Jeff Bezos has explained in the past, the company’s goal is to make money as people use its tablets.
While E-ink e-readers have been slowing down, demand for the Kindle Paperwhite did outstrip supply. It is safe to say Amazon will continue offering E-ink devices for now.
