Amazon Debuts Coins, What You Need to Know
0Amazon has its own currency and it wants you to know it. The company rolled out its virtual currency yesterday. You can now buy Kindle Fire apps, games, and in-app items more conveniently on Amazon. Coins have no expiration date or extra fees. Amazon plans to continue investing in its virtual currency.
We will continue to add more ways to earn and spend Coins on a wider range of content and activities—today is Day One for Coins
said Mike George, vice president for Amazon apps and games. Kindle Fire owners have received 500 Amazon coins to start playing. The more you buy, the bigger your savings will be. Keep in mind that you can’t simply buy everything available on Amazon.com with Coins. Here is how Amazon explains it:
Coins may be redeemed only for the purchase of eligible products through the Amazon Appstore. Eligible products may change over time. Not all apps and in-app products can be purchased using Coins, and not all devices support the use of Coins. When a purchase can be made with Coins, you will see an option to pay with Coins during the purchase process.
Users’ reactions to Amazon Coins have not been all positive. But this is just a start. This payment system could breathe new life into the Amazon Appstore.
