AMD Exec: Hybrid Devices to Replace Tablets by 2016?
0We have seen plenty of interesting Windows 8 tablets and Ultrabooks in the past few months. Those are not the only devices getting attention from consumers though. Hybrid Windows 8 devices such as the Acer R7 are getting a lot of coverage these days. But can they challenge tablets eventually? AMD’s Andrew Muscat think so:
You’re going to see a shift I think. While tablets are good you’re still restricted when it comes to content creation; there’s always going to be a need for notebooks … I think it’s moving a lot more towards taking tablet technology and effectively turning it into notebook technology.
I highly doubt we are headed in that direction. Hybrid devices will always have their fans. But they will not replace tablets anytime soon. In a few years, we are going to deal with more wearable devices (e.g. Google Glass and more advanced wearable computers). Tablets should still be relevant by 2016.
