Beware of Kindle Scams

Most of us would love to get a bargain on Kindle DX. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could get Kindle DX for only $300 while others pay close to $500 to get their hands on it. Of course, you may want to fly too. Unfortunately, scammers know what people are wishing for, and they capitalize on that. In the past few days, I have seen a few places that claim they can offer you a Kindle DX for half the price or a significant discount. It seems I am not alone. There are sites out there that claim things that are simply too good to be true. But you’d be surprised how many folks fall for them. That’s why scammers are in this business in the first place.

Don’t get me wrong. There are legitimate business plans out there, but subsidizing Kindle DX by a few hundred dollars does not seem to be one of them. Everybody wants to pay as low as possible for these new Kindles, and I can see why a lot of people may jump at a chance to save $200 on a Kindle DX even though in the back of their minds they know these offers are too good to be true. But you are usually going to end up getting burned by taking advantage of these dubious offers. Kindle DX is going for $489 and Amazon doesn’t plan to drop prices on it anytime soon. It’s good to look for bargains in these tough economic times but scams are easy to see from a mile away! If an offer looks too good to be true, it probably is. Why take a chance?
