Kindle Causing Eye Strain?
0Amazon Kindle 2.0 may have a leg on the first generation feature with a slicker design and a better E-ink technology, but that hasn’t kept a lot of Kindle 2.0 owners from complaining about eye-strain when using their Kindle for too long. It seems Amazon’s smoothing algorithm is causing a lot of problems for a few Kindle owners. Kindle 2.0 has 16 shades of gray that makes text clearer and images crisper. But if you have read color books on Kindle 2.0, you may have had some issues with your font. If your text is too light in color, you may be experiencing this problem.
A lot of people have complained about the font itself. They call it to be too “narrow” and not easy on the eye. Thanks to the community behind Kindle, there are a few font hacks out there already that you can use to make things look better on your gadget. I personally have not had too many font issues on my Kindle 2.0, but I have been made aware by a few colleagues about the effect that this little glitch could have on one’s eyes.
The good news here is that Amazon’s listening to all these issues, and you can expect a patch to be released sometime soon. You can always try the hack above, but you can also make your font larger to reduce the burden on your eyes. With all the problems that Amazon has had to deal with in the past few weeks (including its latest embarrassment), I am sure this will be the least of its worries.
