Amazon To Launch 2 New Tablet PCs in 2012?
0Amazon has already achieved a considerable amount of success with the Kindle Fire. The device is priced very aggressively to sell. Amazon may be losing money with each Kindle Fire sold but it makes it back with content sales in the long run. It is not done making tablets though. In fact, we might see it launch 2 new tablets in 2012. Digitimes suggests the company is planning to launch a 7 inch and a 10 inch Kindle Fire in the second half of 2012.
Digitimes suggests that Amazon has shifted its focus from e-readers to tablets. One can’t blame Amazon for doing so considering how successful the Kindle Fire was when it was launched. Amazon shipped 3.98m Kindle Fire tablet PCs in the 4th quarter of 2011. Interestingly enough, Amazon is reportedly reducing its orders for E-paper products to E-ink. So the Kindle Fire seems to be cannibalizing other Kindles’ sales.
It will be interesting to see how many current Kindle Fire owners upgrade to the Kindle Fire 2 when it hits the market. If you bought your Kindle Fire just to read books and surf the web once in a while, you may not have to.
