Kindle Fire #1 Android Tablet, Kindle Fire 2 Coming in May?
0It did not take Amazon too long to grab the #1 spot in the Android tablet market. While the iPad is still the king of tablets, the Kindle Fire is a solid number 2 in this highly competitive market. According to IHS iSuppli, Amazon is beating other Android tablet makers with its aggressive pricing strategy. It did sell about 4M Kindle Fire units in 2011, which was good enough for the #3 spot. Unfortunately, Amazon does not share the exact number of tablets sold, so it is hard to guess how the company is doing months after the launch of its first tablet.
Amazon still plans to bring the next Kindle Fire to the market some time next year. According to multiple sources, Amazon is working to bring its next tablet out sometime in May. The company is rumored to be working on reducing its production costs to sell its Kindle Fire 2 tablets for a profit.
The Kindle Fire 2 is rumored to have lower-priced materials. Let’s hope the quality does not suffer in the process. It will most definitely be an improvement over the current Kindle Fire. But by how much is not known.
