Kobo Officially Announces Kobo VOX
0Kobo is bringing a new tablet to the market to stay competitive with Amazon and B&N. Kobo Vox, which is being promoted as the first social e-reader, has a 7 inch color screen (with 1024-by-800 resolution) and will cost only $200. Kobo Vox runs Android 2.3. According to the company, over 15,000 free Android apps will be available to Kobo Vox owners.
Just like Kindle Fire, Kobo Vox users will be able to watch videos, answer emails, play games, and complete other tasks on their device. The device comes integrated with Facebook, allowing readers to connect with others through that network. Kobo Pulse is also part of Vox’s social features.
Considering that Kobo Vox will have to go against Kindle Fire and the next generation NOOK, chances are it won’t be making a huge move on the top players in this market. It does have a decent screen and is an exciting platform for those of you who are not a fan of Amazon’s closed platform.
