$79 Barnes & Noble Nook Returns?

There was a time when people used to pay over $300 to get their hands on a decent e-reader. These days, book lovers only have to pay a fraction of that price to get their hands on decent e-readers. Kindle only costs $139. The good old Nook is now available for $79 on eBay.

B&N is selling these refurbished Nook models at a very attractive price. These devices have been restored to their working order and come with a 1 year warranty. Unlike Nook Color, these Nooks do have an e-ink screen. B&N offers 90 days of phone technical support with these units.

Let’s face it. E-book readers need to be cheaper than they are today. Devices such as iPad or Xoom will never be this cheap. But Kindle 3 is not that far away from this price point. Considering that e-books are not that cheap, dropping e-reader prices could encourage even more folks to make the jump to fully adopt e-books. Will we ever see $79 new Kindles? That day may not be far away.
