Kindle Books Overtake Paperbacks In Sales?

Amazon managed to boost the e-book industry by releasing Kindle to the market a couple of years ago. Since then, the company has adjusted its plans to enhance its ebook sales dramatically. The fact that Kindle app is available on so many platforms gives consumers more confidence to shop at Amazon for their next e-book. So it is no wonder that Amazon manages to sell a ton of e-books these days. The Kindle content started outselling hardcover books a while ago. It seems e-books are now beating paperbacks in sales as well (on Amazon.com). As Jeff Bezos put it, this has happened sooner than most experts expected:

This milestone has come even sooner than we expected — and it’s on top of continued growth in paperback sales

As reported by CNN, Amazon has been selling 115 e-books for each 100 paperbacks sold. E-books are cheaper than even paperbacks in most cases, which has helped their cause. Amazon could have achieved even better results had it managed to exert more control on e-book prices. Many book buyers still consider e-books to be a tad bit expensive. Cheaper Kindles may be on the way, but cheaper e-books is what most Kindle fans are craving for.

With Kindle 4, iPad 2, and many Android tablets on their way in 2011, the sky’s the limit for e-book sellers such as Amazon.
