Aluratek Libre: $99 at Borders, More e-Readers To Come
0Borders.com may have failed to put too much pressure on Amazon and B&N with Kobo Reader. But it is not ready to give up the fight yet. In fact, it is bringing even more e-readers on board to offer e-reader shoppers more options. Borders does sell Sony e-readers and has discounted Kobo Reader to keep it competitive. It has recently started selling Aluratek Libre ereader for those looking for a budget e-book reader. It’s a 5 inch e-reader that takes advantage of Monochrome Reflective Light LCD Technology to offer a better e-reading experience to its users.
Since this is a LCD-based e-reader, one should not expect it to have too long of a battery life. The device can go for up to 24 hours before needing a recharge. It is not very impressive but better than many other similar e-readers. Aluratek Libre can play mp3 files and can sync with PC and Mac too. It does not offer Internet connectivity.
Libre ereader is priced at $99 on Borders.com. While that may sound affordable, Borders will probably need to cut this price down a bit to make Aluratek worth a serious consideration. This e-reader does have its merits. It just does not have many features you can find in devices such as Kindle or iPad. Borders.com is planning to sell Cruz e-reader and tablet, so it will be interesting to know how many Aluratek Libre ereaders will get to sell in the next few months. Our guess is not that many.
