ePad: iPad with Android?

Apple iPad is a decent e-reader (even though it does not take advantage of E-ink). It has a large screen and plenty of applications for its users to play with. Unfortunately, it is based on a closed source system, so it may not be right for everyone. That’s what ePad solves. It is an iPad clone that runs Android. Its screen is roughly the same size as the iPad and has a 1 Ghz processor too.

Clone devices are very popular in Asia. We have seen iPhone clones in the past. These clones are often cheaper than the device they are based on (one reason they are so popular in that region of the world).

ePad won’t outperform the iPad though. It runs Android 2.1 and supports videos, e-books, and audiobooks. The reading experience on LCD tablets does not come close to what you get with devices such as Kindle and Nook. But, if you got to have Android and can’t wait for the upcoming Android tablets, ePad may be worth a look.
