That’s what Windows 8 tablets are for. As recent reports have shown, Windows 8 tablets with Clover Trail Atom Processor inside outperform most ARM-based devices. Acer Iconia W510 Tablet: one of the most affordable Windows 8 tablets around. It has a CrystalBrite LED-backlit TFT LCD (1366 x 768) with 5-finger multi-touch support. It only has 2 GB of RAM and a 32 GB SSD.

thinkpad tablet

Lenovo ThinkPad 2 Tablet: this 10.1 inch tablet comes with an Intel Atom Z2760 1.80 GHz inside. It has 2 GB RAM and 64 GB Flash storage.  The battery will last you 10 hours. It weighs 1.5 pounds. 

asus vivotab

ASUS VivoTab TF810: has an 11.6 inch display with an Intel Atom Z670 1.8 GHz inside. It comes with 64 GB Flash memory and 2 GB RAM.

samsung

Samsung ATIV Smart PC 500T Tablet: another Windows 8 device with a 11.6 inch screen. It has a 1.5 GHz Intel® Atom Processor Z2760 inside. The keyboard dock lets you use it like a laptop.

These tablets won’t replace your powerful desktop computer but run legacy and new Windows 8 apps. If you just need a device for e-reading, these are probably not worth the money though.
